Mean daily air temperatures raised above freezing on 31 May, when snow covered 70% of surface in sparse larch forest in the settlement vicinity. Springs have started to run in the settlement and water appeared above ice on lakes since this date. Migration of Snow Buntings terminated and mass arrival of Herring Gulls occurred on 31 May. Passage of Dusky Thrushes, Bar-tailed Godwits, Pintail Snipes, Curlew Sandpipers and Lapland Buntings was recorded, as well as the displays of Red-throated Pipits and Pintail Snipes. Arrival of Long-tailed Duck, Merlin, Northern Harrier, Ruff, Siberian Accentor, Little Bunting, and Pallas's Reed Bunting occurred on 1 June, along with continueing migration of geese, Dusky Thrushes and Fieldfares. The latter two species were recorded at an approximate ratio 10:1. At least 3 downy chicks were present in a nest of Raven (report of B.I. Lebedev). Willow Warbler, Wigeon, Greater Scaup and Spotted Redshank arrived on 4 June; Wheatear, Bluethroat, Yellow Wagtail, Red-necked Phalarope and Dunlin on 5 June. Migration of Pacific Golden Plovers, Dusky Thrushes and Lapland Buntings terminated on the latter date. Bluethroats were singing actively, while majority of Herring Gulls left the settlement vicinity. The weather turned cold on 8-10 June, when air temperatures dropped to -1øC and squalls of snow occurred. Gulls appeared again in the area on 10 June in the evening. Ice started to break near shore on the Khatanga River on 9 June, and moved down on 13 June in the evening. The first mosquito was recorded on 15 June, while 2 days later buds have started to unfurl in dwarf birch, alder and larch. A nest of Yellow Wagtail with 2 eggs was found on 17 June. The river cleared from ice on 18 June, when also flowering of several plant species and greening of willow have started. Common Swifts were observed on 18 June in the settlement. A complete clutches of Little Bunting and Willow Grouse (9 eggs) were found on 19 June, and Bumblebee was observed. Dusky Thrushes have started egg-laying on 19 June. Arctic Hares started moult on 20 June. A Yellow Wagtail carrying food was observed on 3 July, while fledglings of this species were recorded on 13 July. Poppy have started to flower on 13 July. Spring was considerably later in 2006 compared with 2005. Precipitaion was not abundant in the first half of summer.
